Koi

Today is Boy's Day in Japan. This is when carp shaped kites (koi nobori) are seen flying around that country. The image of carps swimming upstream symbolize the strength of growing boys.

We have our turn too! Girl's Day in on March, 3rd and people display a set of hina dolls (traditional dolls) in the house, wishing girls' healthy growth and happiness. Parents or grand parents of a newborn girl buy a set of gorgeous hina dolls unless they have special dolls, which are inherited from generation to generation.
